Insurors of the Ozarks traces its roots to a conversation had in a Plaza Towers elevator. Bill D. Young approached his office neighbor, a local agent named Joe Kastendieck, about buying his book of business. Joe's response set everything in motion: "You don't know this, but I also own a handful of Kentucky Fried Chickens, and I think I'd rather be in the chicken business than the insurance business."

 

A few months later, on April 1st, 1982, the deal was done. Bill tossed his son Greg the office keys and said, "Don't lose my house." Bill's home was the collateral on the loan. Greg was 20 years old, a junior at Drury College.

From that desk, Greg L. Young built something lasting. He shifted the agency away from non-standard auto and toward everyday families, grew a loyal client base, and spent more than three decades making Insurors of the Ozarks a name people in Southwest Missouri trusted.

On April 1st, 2012, the agency's 30th anniversary, Greg's son Bryant joined the business. He'd graduated from the University of Arkansas, spent two years at a captive insurance agency learning the industry outside the family business, and came home ready to help carry it forward. Over the next fourteen years, Bryant strengthened the agency's relationships across the real estate and lending communities, expanded its reach among young and well-established families, and modernized the agency’s systems and service approach without losing what made it work in the first place.

On April 1st, 2026, Bryant purchased the agency from his parents. The same keys that were once tossed across a closing table, now in his hands. Three generations. Forty-four years. Still independent, still local, still here.
